DAY 1 AT HAMPI: FRIDAY, FEB. 10TH

Dear reader, because I am SO far behind in my blogging, I have decided to do the next several blogs as pictorial essays only, with some captions... forgive me, and enjoy the visuals! They are indeed spectacular....

The river right next to our rustic camping area. This lovely Italian woman, Christina, met our group at our guest house/hippy resort here... was great hanging out with her and gettng to know her.

rice fields, I believe? So green and pretty!

The scenery everywhere around Hampi was gorgeous... a good deal of nature, and popular climbing destination, particularly for Israelis, for some strange reason!

Walking along the road, as often happens, I was grabbed by a family and thrust into selfie mode!

hazy landscape from a peak we all climbed...

quite a good hike up some very steep stairs to the vista and Hanuman temple at the top!

Of course there were the requisite monkey-beggars along the way...!

One had to tread with care!

Great reward of the ancient Hanuman temple at the top!

Better reward: magnificent sunset!

Christina, ever joyous, salutes the setting sun!

Swami does a Hanuman Chalisa chant to honor Hanuman's home and the setting sun...

Many other people were there at this auspicious hour...both to pay homage to the Hanuman temple AND the setting sun....

Chanting to the sun!

Yours truly with Christina....

Yes, I was fixated on this magical spot!

Stopping at a pharmacy on our way back to camp...I was taken by this cute youngster helping his parents out with disseminating drugs!! (No, not really.... but a future pharmacist, sure!)
